{"id":948,"date":"2010-03-23T07:00:53","date_gmt":"2010-03-23T06:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.christlutheranchurch.org.uk\/site\/?p=948"},"modified":"2010-02-20T12:09:08","modified_gmt":"2010-02-20T11:09:08","slug":"lent-devotions-2010-tuesday-23-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.christlutheranchurch.org.uk\/site\/2010\/03\/23\/lent-devotions-2010-tuesday-23-march\/","title":{"rendered":"Lent Devotions 2010: Tuesday 23 March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em><br \/>\nArise, shine, for your light has come,<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>and thick darkness the peoples;<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>but the LORD will arise upon you,<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>and His glory will be seen upon you.\u201d\u00a0 Isaiah 60:1-2<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Word of God as written by the Prophet Isaiah concerning the future glory of Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The days of Lent are just\u00a0 plain gloomy.\u00a0 Most days during this\u00a0 time of year the sky remains overcast.\u00a0 One can compare the gloomy dark sky with\u00a0 the spiritual darkness, the sinfulness that covers the earth.\u00a0 Spiritually speaking we live in the\u00a0 darkness of our sin.<\/p>\n<p>But we saints, those who confess Jesus is Lord, look\u00a0 forward to leaving the darkness of the world.\u00a0 We look forward to passing through death\u2019s dark door into the eternal light of God\u2019s presence.\u00a0 We look forward to our own\u00a0 resurrection.\u00a0 We look forward to life everlasting in Heaven where it will never be dark.\u00a0 For now, we bathe in the light of God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 For now, we find warmth and\u00a0 comfort in the Sacraments.\u00a0 For now, we live with the assurance that our Saviour, Jesus, remains with us always.\u00a0 The glory of the Lord shines around\u00a0 us.\u00a0 God\u2019s Word is a lamp unto our\u00a0 feet.\u00a0 We need not fear the darkness.\u00a0 The World may dwell in darkness but we Christians thrive in the light of our Saviour Jesus.\u00a0 As we traverse the dark days of Lent let\u00a0 us ever focus on the glorious day of Easter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We praise You, Lord, that the true Light is already shining and that it will never be extinguished.\u00a0 Amen.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.
